What Is THC-O Acetate

THC-O is a minor cannabinoid found in the hemp plant. THC-O is known by several different names including: THC-O Acetate, THC-O Distillate, and ATHC. What makes THC-O Acetate different from cannabinoids such as Delta 8 THC (D8) or Delta 9 THC (D9) is that:

1. THC-O Acetate has psychoactive effects that are reported to be more potent than both Delta 8 and Delta 9.
2. In the THC-O Acetate molecule, an acetate group is chemically bound to the main THC molecule.

The end result is that you get a form of THC that’s able to bind to the cannabinoid receptors at a higher rate, which might be the reason consumers report it to feel stronger than Delta 8 or Delta 9.  However, everyone is different, so the effect you have may not be the same as someone else’s experience.

THC-O Distillate | THC-O Acetate Tolerance

Do not assume that a tolerance for Delta 8 THC or Delta 9 THC will translate to THC-O.

Since THC-O is acetylated, it is more stable and stays in the system longer.  It takes longer to feel the effects if taken in edible form because it stays intact as it passes through the digestive tract.  Due to the way it assimilates metabolically in the system, is part of the reason people report feeling “different” than a typical Delta 9 THC or Delta 8 THC high.

Because THC-O Acetate may be more potent than other forms of THC, if you’re trying THC-O Acetate for the first time, we recommend starting at small doses, and then waiting 30-60 minutes to gauge your true tolerance.

These recommendations are based upon oral consumption, dabbing and/or inhaling this product may have differing effects with respect to onset time and dosage.

Will THC-O Acetate get me high?

THC-O Acetate has been reported to be stronger than Delta 9 THC. Even though THC and THC-O Acetate are chemically similar, the small molecular difference translates into a potency difference.  People who turn to THC for pain relief, digestive disorders or other chronic health issues have said that it’s extremely beneficial where hemp derived Delta 8 THC or hemp derived Delta 9 THC products were not as effective.

What is it like to work with THC-O?

For those who have used Delta-8 distillate, it is known for being difficult to work with since it’s like the consistency of molasses in February!  That being said, THC-O Acetate has a very nice consistency and at room temperature flows very easily and is perfect in a vape cartridge.
